So what is a thrilling historic ride?

Unlike modern white-knuckle rides, thrilling historic rides are manually operated, with a more changeable experience than you might expect on a new ride. Your ride can vary according to weather conditions or, in the case of the Scenic Railway, depending on the brakeman.

A large number of British seaside amusement parks have closed over the last few years. Much of our British amusement park heritage would have been lost were it not for the pioneering work of The Dreamland Trust. Many of the rides that will feature in the new Dreamland have been rescued from these parks, some of which are the last remaining examples of their type in the world. Others have direct historical links with Dreamland.

The rides restoration programme has begun and will continue after the park has opened. Here are some of the rides currently in storage being assessed for restoration.
